Many fifth graders participated in a Living Biography on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Joseph Davies Elementary School. What is a living biography you ask? Well, first the students read an autobiography or biography about a person who has made a positive impact on our world. Then, the students planned an authentic costume to wear to represent that person. Many parents, teachers, and school board employees came to interact with the famous fifth graders. As the students walked around in costume and character, it was the job of the parents to ask the students questions until they figured out who the student was dressed as. As the parents and guests began guessing each student’s identity, they learned a lot! The students practiced their communication skills and practiced their ability to summarize and retell many facts out loud. When asked what was your favorite part of the living biography?, one student replied….”the costumes of course!
