The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office, which has collected more than 5,000 old or unneeded prescription pills during its Operation Medicine Cabinet drives, will join with the US Drug Enforcement Agency to accept old medication Saturday.

Fuel, the youth activities program from St. Bernard Parish President Craig Taffaro’s office, will kick off the school year with its first event September 25. The event will be a dodgeball tournament for sixth- to eighth-grade students.

Custodian Charlene Guerra from Trist Middle accepts 175 school bags filled with school supplies that have been donated to Trist Middle School from AT&T volunteers Wanda Cook and Larry Cook. Approximately 75 were also donated to W. Smith Elementary.
