Hundreds gathered at the Fred Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette to celebrate the business community in St. Bernard Parish.
The 2012 Business Expo, put on by the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce, drew a crowd of around 500 and showcased nearly 60 exhibitors.
In addition to business to business networking, the expo provided attendees the opportunity to try products, win prizes, experience live product demonstrations, and meet the faces behind the storefronts they drive by everyday.
Chamber Director Stephen Reuther says in the eyes of the Chamber, the event was a success.
“Overall, I couldn’t be more pleased with the results of this year’s Business Expo. We had hundreds of people in the Sigur Civic Center, and the energy was incredible,” Reuther detailed. “I’ve received a lot of positive feedback and some great stories from exhibitors who picked up new leads or business referrals.”
Chamber Chairwoman Jodie Lohfink echoed those sentiments.
“This was the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce’ 3rd Annual Business Expo and it was a hugh success,” Lohfink stated. ”This was a great opportunity for the businesses in St. Bernard to Showcase their Products and Services to the public and we appreciate their support.”
Reuther said that public support of the event, as well as the number of participating businesses really illustrates the upward direction of St. Bernard’s redevelopment.
“To have such a vibrant, active business community is a great indicator of the future of St. Bernard Parish,” Reuther stated. Now we just need to get that word out to the public and give our businesses the opportunities and support they need to thrive.”
