Chalmette Bicycle was named “Business of the Month” by the St. Bernard Parish Council at their July 3 meeting for the business’ 50 years of dedication to customer satisfaction and to the parish. Established in 1963 by William and Annie Ybarzbal, the community staple is currently run by the Ybarzbal’s children. Councilman Nathan Gorbaty remembered his grandmother going to Chalmette Bicycle “to purchase my first really cool bike— my mini-Mongoose.”
