FEMA-funded demolition program continued in parishMar 20th, 2012 | By admin | Category: News
As part of its ongoing beautification and quality of life improvement efforts, St. Bernard Parish Government will continue to demolish storm-damaged structures in 2012. FEMA and GOHSEP have recently granted St. Bernard Parish Government additional time to demolish as many as 650 remaining storm-damaged structures throughout the parish. Parish staff and contractors conducted a kickoff meeting on Monday morning to begin what will be the final phase of this ongoing project.
Owners of condemned storm-damaged structures in St. Bernard Parish can expect to receive a final notice if they have not received one already. As in the past, storm-damaged structures will not be removed from the demolition list because the owner has obtained a building permit. Only active and ongoing repairs will suffice for having a storm-damaged structure removed from consideration for demolition. Residents are encouraged to call the St. Bernard Parish Demolition Office at 504.278.4309 if there are any questions regarding the status of a condemned structure.
