Festivals rescheduled after Karen’s storm scareOct 14th, 2013 | By admin | Category: News
Due to the threat of Tropical Storm Karen last weekend, the Battle for the Bayou Bash and the 2nd Annual Blues in Da Parish Festival were both rescheduled.
On October 19, from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. the Save Louisiana Coalition (SLC) will be hosting their First Annual Battle for the Bayou Bash fundraiser at the Frederick Sigur Civic Center.
The fundraiser will feature silent auctions, local seafood, live music from August Rush and Hit N Run, and much more. All of the proceeds raised during the event will go towards the SLC’s efforts to support the “responsible restoration of Coastal Louisiana while protecting our heritage, culture, and seafood industry,” said Captain George Ricks, President of SLC.
For more information or to purchase advance tickets ($20) please visit www.Thesavelouisianacoalition.com or call Kerri Callais Lubrano at 504.416.9853. All tickets that were purchased previously will be honored.
The following weekend, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 26 the Second Annual Blues in Da Parish Festival will be taking place at Docville Farm in Violet.
This festival will boast plenty of good local food and local blues musicians as well as family activities. These include a harmonica workshop taught by the Crescent City Harmonica Club, a Blues in Da Parish logo coloring contest, and a visit from the Audubon Zoo’s Wetlands Express Mobile, which teaches kids about all of our wetland’s important animals.
