St. Bernard DA Files Lawsuit Against Port NOLA on Behalf of Parish Government

St. Bernard Parish District Attorney Perry Nicosia, on behalf of the parish government, filed a lawsuit in the 34th Judicial District Court on August 4 that seeks a “permanent injunction” against the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) Louisiana International Terminal project proposed to be built in Violet. This filing was met by immediate and sharp criticism from Port NOLA President and CEO Brandy Christian, who called the contents of the lawsuit “meritless.”

Emile Pellittieri Announces Candidacy for Parish President

Emile Pellittieri, (Republican) a local business owner for over 35 years who has also been actively involved is numerous charitable organizations, announces his candidacy for Parish President. He is a free speech proponent, a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment and Pro-Life. He is not a long-term politician and is not connected with or beholding to any other candidates. His commitment is to seeing a strong parish that is supportive to everyone, not just the politically connected. The most important job of parish government to provide a safe environment and quality services to its citizens.

School Back In Session

The 2023-24 school year for St. Bernard Parish schools began this week, and Sheriff James Pohlmann reminds residents to drive cautiously and obey school zone speed limits in the mornings and afternoons. “We want residents to be mindful of reduced speed limits near our schools, and watch for students walking in the areas near schools,” the Sheriff said. “Also, be prepared for school buses making frequent stops to pick up or drop off students.”

For _e Parish To continue from last week, there is excitement with the opening of a new business at the old Renaissance plant nursery location at 9123 West Judge Perez Dr. The new business is called Country Roots Garden Center and is a prime example of new blood into an already established business location.
