Herman P. Folse

Herman P. Folse died of natural causes on Friday January 17, 2014 at his home in Florida. Herman was born August 26, 1926 in Ponchatoula, LA. He was a Navy veteran from World War II, a retired U.S. Postal Inspector, and a resident of St. Bernard Parish from 1953 to 2005. Herman was predeceased by his parents Charles J. Folse and Bertha Robichaux Folse, his brother Henry Folse, and his sisters Ruby Christy and Margie Driscoll. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Florence Beaton Folse, his brother Charles Folse, his children Paul Folse, Robert Folse (Cindy), Michael Folse (Kathy), and Barbara Folse, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Herman enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Canada, camping, hiking, bird watching, fishing, crabbing, hosting backyard bar-b-ques, playing softball, watching sports, cheering for the Saints, building doll houses, playing with his model trains, and just being with his family and friends. Less than a week after Hurricane Betsy flooded his family’s Anne St. home in 1965, Herman was the first one in his neighborhood to come back and get started with the repairs. Herman was a sincere Catholic for his entire life and anticipated death with every expectation that he would live eternally in the home of his Creator.
