Mary “Jane” Dragon (Mama Jane) died peacefully in her home at 12:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Rigel, her previous husband, Philip Dragon, and her brother, William Rigel. Beloved mother of Michael Dragon (Sherri) and Michele Dragon (Maria). Loving grandmother of Seth and Riley Dragon. Sister of Georgia Davis (Bob), James Rigel (Lena) and Robert Rigel (Lori). Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jane is a native of Greeley, Colorado, a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 26 years and a resident of Abita Springs since 2005. She is the former owner of The Hair Shoppe. Jane was a dedicated grandmother, a passionate gardener who loved working in her yard and an excellent cook and baker. She is a member of the USD 1812 and DAR. Jane’s family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Philip Boudreaux, Dr. Yi-Zarn Wang, Ann-Porter Uhlhorn, Pam Ryan and the entire Carcinoid Clinic staff and also St. Joseph’s Hospice Northshore for their loving care of Jane. Relatives, friends and employees of St. Bernard Fire Department and Exxon-Mobile were invited to attend a funeral service at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Visitation was held on Monday, March 24, 2014 and also on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 followed by a service. Interment was held in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
