The Sugar Museum, which is scheduled to open by the end of 2013, through the St. Bernard Office of Tourism is looking for pictures, stories, and quotes relating to Old Arabi. The exhibit will highlight the unique history of the community, including the stockyards and slaughterhouse, the gambling houses, and the neighborhood’s growth up to the 1930s. Materials should be submitted by email to info@visitstbernard. com or in person at the Aycock Visitor Center, 409 Aycock St. in Arabi. Artifacts, such as newspaper clippings or pictures, will be scanned and returned, often in the same visit. For more information, call the Office of Tourism at 504.278.4242.
