Public record requests now to be posted onlineAug 12th, 2013 | By Candace Griffin | Category: News
The Parish Council passed an ordinance 7-0 that will require the St. Bernard Parish Government to make all public record requests available to the general public via the parish website. The includes both the requests themselves, as wells as the government’s response to those requests.
“Both the Administration and the Council want to become the most transparent government in the metropolitan area,” said Councilman Guy McInnis.
The Council has required that this action be retroactive, which will include making available all requests and government responses since January, and from here on out. They also stated that they will be giving the Parish government some extra time to add these documents to the website, as there have been many public requests since January.
All requests made will be put on the public information portal of the St. Bernard government website. Here, the public can gain information on parish assets, finances, grants, personnel and procurement. The parish’s website is www.sbpg.net.
