Red Ribbon Week Oct. 23-31Oct 28th, 2013 | By Candace Griffin | Category: News
The St. Bernard Parish School Board declared October 23 – 31 as Red Ribbon Week at last Tuesday’s meeting. Red Ribbon Week is a National event that aims to provide drug prevention education to students.
The Board said that it supports the National Red Ribbon Campaign, as it offers students and employees the opportunity to demonstrate a commitment to drug free lifestyles.
During this week, the Board is encouraging students and employees to wear red ribbons as a visible statement that they are working towards making St. Bernard a drug free community.
“We as a school district are trying to help young people make prudent decisions in their lives,” said Charles Cassar, the Parish’s Drug Prevention Program and Cultural Arts Coordinator. “These educational pieces can bring kids from the cradle, to success.”
