St. Bernard Republican Women Fundraiser held to support Scholarship FoundationJul 8th, 2013 | By admin | Category: Community
St. Bernard Republican Women, a unit of the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women, held a raffle for an ice chest of shrimp with the winning ticket pulled recently at Rocky & Carlo’s. The proceeds from the fundraiser went to the club’s annual scholarship.
St. Bernard Republican Women Scholarship Foundation, established in 2001, annually awards a scholarship to a college-bound female high school student who resides in St. Bernard Parish. The club’s foundation is funded by a variety of fundraising events held throughout the year and with the sales of a cookbook compiled by its members, Recipes to Remember‚Äî A Collection of Recipes Of, By, and For the People of St. Bernard Parish.
“We will present the scholarship to this year’s recipient at a reception in her honor on July 12,” said Carol Ludwig, President of St. Bernard Republican Women. “It is our pleasure to annually recognize a young woman for her academic accomplishments and to assist her in furthering her education as she prepares for her future career.”
In addition to awarding a scholarship, club members conduct a variety of community service activities and support quality local, state and national candidates at election time. Club objectives include the promotion of the principles of freedom, equality and justice on which the Constitution and government of this country were founded, and to educate and inform the voting public on candidates and issues of the day.
Active membership is open to Republican women in St. Bernard Parish and surrounding areas; and, associate membership is open to Republican men. For more information about membership, or the cookbook, contact Joan Garofalo at 504.957.8656.
