St. Bernard Gives Back is finalizing plans for the March 11 fund-raiser, “Sweets and Treats for Disaster Relief.” The event will be a Tasting Gala. Desserts, hor d’oeuvers, music, a beautiful setting, antique cars, prizes and more will create a fun filled afternoon for a great cause.
St. Bernard Gives Back, organized less than a year ago, helps neighbors after a disaster.
“Our fund-raisers aid us in assisting families after their loss,” said Susan Tedesco Ross, Chairperson. “We have helped over 85 families by bringing food, funds and encouragement after their loss.”
St. Bernard Gives back went to Sun and Bush, LA in June, to help families after their homes were destroyed by tornadoes. In October, the group traveled to Lafitte after Tropical Storm Lee flooded over 60 homes.
“We believe that it is our turn to provide assistance in return for what was graciously provided to our community by volunteers after Hurricane Katrina”, said Kathleen Gebbia, Committee Member. “Proceeds from the Tasting Gala Fund-raiser will be used in future efforts in helping our neighbors after a loss.”
A Champagne Toast is planned for the recognition of Patrons at the “Sweets and Treats for Disaster Relief Tasting Gala.”
Patron Levels include donations of:
• $100 “Banana’s Foster”
• $250 “Cherries Jubilee”
• $500 “Baked Alaska”
Tickets for the Tasting are $20 per person and can be purchased by calling Faith Moran 504.450.5809, Ticket Chairperson.
The Gala will be held at the beautiful estate of Sylvia Guillot on Bayou Road in St. Bernard. After Katrina, Ms. Guillot’s home and grounds were totally rebuilt and enlarged.
“Sylvia’s home is so beautiful”, commented Moran. “And the grounds with the ponds, foot bridges, fountains, gardens and lake are breathtaking. It’s a great location for an afternoon Gala.”
Sweets and Treats for Disaster Relief Tasting Gala will be held Sunday March 11, 2 – 5 p.m., at 3008 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA 70085.
Anyone interested in donating desserts or hors d’oervres for the Gala, please contact Nora Egan 504.342.2445. Donations to St. Bernard Gives Back can be sent to # 2 Carolyn Ct., Arabi, LA 70032.
