Nunez Community College in Chalmette is welcoming incoming freshmen to the Fall 2023 semester with a $500 scholarship. The ‘Take Flight’ and ‘We Give A Hoot About You’ Scholarships each offer $500 to students who graduated from high school in 2023.

Two St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office deputies recently received the Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard-Arabi Sammie Catalanotto LifeSaver Award at a banquet hosted by Kiwanis at Rocky and Carlo’s Restaurant in Chalmette. Recipients are Dep. Christopher Acosta and Dep. Stephen Oalmann, both of the Field Operations Bureau’s Patrol Division’s 3rd Platoon.

Louisiana State Treasurer and candidate in the upcoming 2023 Governor’s election John Schroder appeared before the St. Bernard Parish Council during their July 18 meeting to discuss money that parish residents may be owed and his office has the ability to give out. Specifically, he referred to “unclaimed property,” which is money owed to individuals throughout Louisiana that—for whatever reason—hasn’t been given to those individuals.
